About

Alan Flurkey is Professor of Literacy Studies and Chair of the Department of Specialized Programs in Education in the School of Education at Hofstra University.

Dr. Flurkey has authored several journal articles and book chapters, and is co-editor of three books: Scientific Realism in Studies of Reading, Revolution: The Selected Writings of Kenneth S. Goodman, and Many Cultures, Many Voices: Proceedings of the Whole Language Umbrella Conference. He has also co-edited an issue of the journal Primary Voices K-6, titled “Miscue Analysis for Classroom Teachers. His most recent book is The Essential RMA: A Window into Readers' Thinking.
